CareConnect

Challenge

A national network needed technology that could help families find appropriate support services without forcing them through opaque directories or repeated intake forms. Privacy requirements were strict: sensitive information had to be handled with HIPAA-aligned controls, while still enabling practical features like location-based discovery and timely communication with providers. Legacy tools were slow, fragmented across regions, and offered little guidance when families did not know which service category they needed. The organization required a cohesive product that could scale nationally, feel approachable for non-technical users, and remain performant as content and provider directories grew.

Solution

We delivered CareConnect as a React.js and Material UI experience backed by Node.js services and MongoDB on AWS. Location-based search helped families discover nearby assistance options, while a guided quiz module translated needs into provider recommendations without demanding clinical expertise from the user. Real-time chat via Socket.io supported timely follow-up between families and support coordinators. We applied HIPAA-conscious architecture patterns around access control, encryption in transit, and careful data minimization. Aggressive AWS caching and query optimization produced a dramatic performance lift, ensuring resource pages and match results remained responsive for everyday use.

Outcome

Families could locate services, complete guided matching, and communicate through the product instead of juggling disconnected phone trees and spreadsheets. Support coordinators gained a clearer operational picture of inquiries and follow-ups. The network now has a scalable foundation for expanding directories and programs while keeping sensitive information handling central to every architectural decision.
